The technology

How it works.

Like the larger Biomax-G® series, Biomatic® is an automatic system able to treat all types of organic waste inside a stainless-steel reactor. Organic material is loaded into the reactor by an automatic conveyor system and turned by augers following a PLC-controlled path. Gradual, controlled turning cycles ensure the design treatment time is met, typically 2 to 7 weeks. The forced aeration system runs in suction, 24 hours a day, automatically regulated by supervisory software that controls every process parameter.

Process

The process phases.

01

Automatic or manual loading

Organic material is loaded into the bioreactor by an automatic conveyor system. On customer request, loading and unloading can be carried out manually.

02

PLC-controlled turning

The helical augers move in a PLC-controlled sequence. Gradual, continuous turning ensures residence times are met, typically 2–7 weeks, keeping the biomass porous throughout every section.

03

Forced aeration by suction

The aeration system runs in suction 24/7, automatically managed by supervisory software. Extracted air is sent to the odour treatment system (scrubber/biofilter).

04

Moisture control

An irrigation system that activates during turning keeps the biomass at the correct moisture content, more effectively than the surface irrigation used in static tunnels.

05

Continuous discharge

Loading and discharge are continuous: treated material moves straight to the refining line, removing the intermediate storage needed with batch tunnels.

Technical advantages

Why choose Biomatic®.

-50% footprint versus tunnels

Removing intermediate storage and manoeuvring space for diesel machinery, plus the volume recovered through dynamic turning, cut the treatment footprint by 50%.

Immediate process start-up

Continuous loading means fresh material comes straight into contact with already-active biomass, removing start-up delays and the need for inoculants.

Demountable, relocatable structure

The stainless-steel bioreactor is modular and demountable. A lightweight fabric-covered building can also be requested, further minimising civil works.

Fully electric

Low-consumption, high-efficiency electric motors, zero operating emissions. No manual loading/unloading, with the related staff and fuel costs.

Reduced maintenance

Rugged design with few moving parts. Maintenance costs are significantly lower than batch systems using diesel machinery.

Optimal environmental conditions

The absence of intermediate storage and manual operations significantly improves safety and health conditions inside the building.
