R&D
Decades of patented innovation.
SORAIN's technologies have been developed in-house over more than eighty years of applied research, protected by international patents and installed in dozens of plants in operation.
International patent · Since 1988
Biomax-G®
Biological treatment in a dynamic reactor.
Biomax-G® is a patented aerobic biological treatment, the result of decades of research and development, treating biodegradable organic waste since 1964. The first model was industrially tested in Perugia in 1988, and the first Biomax-G® system was built in 1996. Today the technology is used in more than 100 lines operating worldwide, processing a combined 25,000 tonnes of organic waste per day.
Modular bioreactor · Small and medium scale
Biomatic®
The local-scale solution for high-quality composting.
Biomatic® biological treatment is the perfect answer for small and medium treatment capacities, where decentralised systems are preferred over large centralised plants. Its compact footprint and competitive price make it highly attractive for small and medium-scale plants, up to 30,000 tonnes/year.
INTEGRATED SYSTEM – ANAEROBIC DIGESTION & COMPOSTING
Enermat
Semi-dry plug-flow technology turning the organic fraction of waste into biomethane and biofertilisers.
Through ENERMAT technology, SORAIN and W2M offer an integrated biological treatment system combining dry anaerobic digestion with accelerated composting, a circular-economy solution for the definitive recovery of the organic fraction of waste and other agricultural materials, producing biomethane and biofertilisers.
Multi-purpose platform · Since 1964
Ecoparco TMB
A single centre treating several municipal waste streams together.
The Sorain Ecoparco is a multi-purpose platform built on the Group's own technology, combining mechanical-biological treatment, optical sorting and quality composting in a single plant. It builds on the experience of the Group's first recycling and composting plant in Rome, started in 1964, and treats source-separated organics, dry recyclables and residual municipal waste together in one facility, optimising material recovery and operating costs.
