The project
The Edmonton plant, Alberta, built for TRANSALTA CORPORATION, is one of the SORAIN Group's most significant historical references in North America. With a capacity of 1,200 tonnes per day, 350,000 tonnes/year, of municipal solid waste and sewage sludge, it was for years one of the largest MBT plants on the American continent. The system combines mechanical treatment of the various waste fractions, biological stabilisation through the Biomax-G® process, and energy recovery from the residual fraction. The Edmonton plant helped consolidate SORAIN's international reputation as a leader in industrial-scale MBT technology.
